In my previous post I mentioned that I printed my first Nerf gun! I ended up posting it on Etsy and immediately got an order for four of them. I wanted to mention the modification I made to it that made it work way better. The original design used a piece of left over filament as a spring mechanism for the trigger. I found that this didn't work very well. Instead I printed a plastic spring and inserted into the slot. It worked really well, better then I would of expected. The next modification I need to make is to add a rod to hold the nerf dart in place. As is the dart will fall out of the barrel too easily. You can order one yourself if your interested here .
My first printed nerf gun! Ever since I purchased my 3D printer in the summer I've been wanting to print a nerf gun. I've seen many designs on thingiverse but none seemed right for me. Last night I decided to try this one: Foam Dart Pistol It was slightly to big for my 120x120x120 mm bed so I scaled it down to 90%. It printed last night. My first thoughts are... this is cool, but I plan to tweak it. First off the barrel is too big, the nerf dart isn't held snuggly. To remedy that I'm going to add a rod like most nerf guns have that will hold the dart. Second it doesn't have the tactical rail. It would be nice to be compatible with the existing nerf accessories. I'll add that next. Third the way the trigger springs back didn't work well for me. Instead I printed my own spring which works much better. Here are some pictures of it
